[1] This is a telegram drafted by Mao Zedong for the Military Commission of the CPC Central Committee to Chen Yi, Commander of the New Fourth Army and concurrently Commander of the Shandong Military Region. On June 7, 1946, the troops of the Shandong Military Region launched a campaign against the rebels simultaneously on the Jiaoji and Jinpu railways, targeting towns such as Jiao County, Zhangdian, Zhoucun, Tai’an, Zaozhuang, Dezhou, Dawenkou, Gaomi, and Jimo. By the 16th, all the designated strongholds for attack, except Dawenkou, had been captured, and over 30,000 puppet troops were annihilated.
