The United States Is Shipping Large Numbers of Chiang Kai-shek’s Troops to the Northeast to Expand the Civil War[1]

(June 1, 1946)

[Yan'an, June 1, via Xinhua News Agency] It is reliably learned that while Mr. Marshall seems to be earnestly appealing for peace in the Northeast and in China, three divisions of the Kuomintang’s 53rd Army, now stationed in Viet Nam, are about to be shipped by U.S. naval vessels to the Northeast within the next few days to expand the already greatly expanded civil war. In addition, it is said that the 5th Army may also be shipped to the Northeast by U.S. naval vessels. It should be noted that Mr. Marshall has authority over the use of U.S. naval vessels for transporting Kuomintang troops. It was previously agreed that only five Kuomintang armies would be shipped to the Northeast, but later the agreement was broken and two more armies were shipped. In April it was also agreed that U.S. naval vessels would no longer be used to transport troops for the Kuomintang after shipping the 93rd Army. However, after Chiang Kai-shek, the chieftain of China’s civil war, rejected peace in the Northeast and peace in the whole country as if following orders, the U.S. side has again continued to use its naval transport facilities and large quantities of weapons and ammunition actively to help the Kuomintang expand the civil war, and as a result the civil war in China has indeed expanded on an unprecedented scale. This situation, in which the United States and Chiang Kai-shek are closely cooperating to slaughter the Chinese people, merits serious attention.
