Added Passage on the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Telegram to Zhou Enlai[1]

(March 16, 1946)

All facts in the recent period prove that Chiang Kai-shek’s reactionary policy of opposing the Soviet Union, opposing the Communist Party, and opposing democracy will not change for the time being. Only through severe struggle, making him realize the difficulties and retreat, will there be the possibility of certain compromises more favorable to democracy.

[1] This is a passage added by Mao Zedong to the telegram sent by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to Zhou Enlai on the issue of opposing the Kuomintang’s revision of the CPPCC resolutions and the draft constitution principles.
