To Mao Anqing[1]

(January 7, 1946)

Anqing, my dear son:

Anying has returned to the country, and I have received your letter. Knowing how you are doing makes me very happy. Seeing your elder brother is like seeing you. I hope you will continue your studies there, and when your studies are completed, return to the country to serve the people well. Your little sister (Li Na[2]) sends her regards. She is now five and a half years old. I am sending you two pieces of her paper-cuttings.

Wishing you progress, happiness, and growth!
