The Kuomintang abhors civil war and calls for peace. The principles it has put forward strike at the root of contemporary ills and reflect far-sighted judgment. Pursuing independence, democracy, and peace has been our Party’s fundamental policy for nation-building in the postwar period. To resolve the current crisis, it is imperative to cease hostilities, resume political consultations, and settle all disputes through political means. However, bellicose elements have failed to heed this call, resulting in the continued escalation of the civil war and an ever-worsening situation. Our Party will work in unison with overseas Chinese compatriots and the people throughout the country to avert this perilous situation and steadfastly uphold our policy of peace and democracy until victory is achieved.
