Conversation with Chu Fucheng and Five Other Senators[1]

(July 2, 1945)

The door between the two sides is not closed, but a large stumbling stone outside the door blocks the way. That stumbling stone is the National Assembly.

[1] On the afternoon of July 2, 1945, Mao Zedong, together with Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, and Ren Bishi, met with Chu Fucheng and five other senators at Yangjialing. They listened to the senators explain the purpose of their visit and their views on domestic issues. This is part of Mao Zedong's conversation with them.
