Analysis of the Work of the Rear Area Corps[1]

(July 1945)

The Senior Cadres’ Meeting criticized the Rear Area Corps, but the achievements of the Rear Area Corps’ work over the past few years are primary. The Rear Area Corps did have shortcomings and errors, but their nature falls under the fifth category in the concluding section of the History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Bolsheviks); they were not errors of line. The inappropriate conclusions drawn by the Senior Cadres’ Meeting regarding the Rear Area Corps should be corrected. The transfer of many Rear Area Corps cadres’ work assignments before and after the Senior Cadres’ Meeting dampened their initiative, and this was incorrect in terms of method.

[1] Mao Zedong had a long discussion with Xiao Jinguang at Zaoyuan concerning the work of the Rear Area Corps. This is part of their conversation.
