Long live the martyrs who died for the cause.

Couplet in Memory of the Martyrs of the War of Resistance Against Japan[1]

(June 17, 1945)

Born for the people, died for the people, your cause shall endure forever with the people;
Came for victory, departed for victory, our task is to march forward courageously toward victory.

[1] On June 17, 1945, a memorial service for China's fallen martyrs was held in Yan'an. This couplet was presented by Mao Zedong on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
