Some Annotations on Wang Ruofei’s Telegram of the 3rd [1]

(March 5, 1945)

It is fundamentally far from ripe.

Wang proposes it should be rejected.

They see the interests of one side, but going out immediately would be politically disadvantageous.

[1] Annotation 1 is Mao Zedong’s comment on the current conditions for forcing Chiang Kai-shek to make concessions; Annotation 2 is a comment on Wang Shijie’s proposal; Annotation 3 is a comment on the opinion stated in the incoming telegram that Zhou Enlai’s going to Chongqing again could advance the democratic movement in the Great Rear Area; Annotation 4 is a comment on the next session of the National Political Council. On the 8th, Zhou Enlai, acting on the opinions in Mao Zedong’s annotations, drafted a reply telegram to Wang Ruofei on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
