Reply to Zhang Yunyi, Rao Shushi, and Zeng Shan[1]

(September 9, 1944)

After the airfield is completed, large numbers of U.S. military personnel will successively fly to the military headquarters and various divisions. We should express welcome. Although this may provoke Japanese bandit "mopping-up" operations, compared to the overall situation, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. To boldly cooperate with the U.S. military and show sincere welcome in every respect is our Party’s established policy.
