Speech at a Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China[1]

(August 30 and September 1, 1944)

The Kuomintang’s military offensive against us this time has indeed been beaten back. Now they are preparing the disposition for their next offensive. As for the Kuomintang’s political offensive against us, because Rogov[2] of the Soviet Union published an article opposing the Kuomintang’s demand for the abolition of the Chinese Communist Party, and Britain and the United States also expressed dissatisfaction, and because of our resolute protest and open criticism of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek has now ordered a halt to the propaganda for the abolition of the Chinese Communist Party. This time we have raised the issue of comprador, feudal fascism, which is the fascism of semi-colonial invaded countries. Our cooperation with the Kuomintang is cooperation with the comprador, feudal fascism of an invaded country. At the same time, this kind of fascism is anti-communist and anti-popular; its policy is a dual policy, resisting Japan and opposing the Communists. Our struggle against the Kuomintang is to seek unity through struggle; the Central Committee’s line is correct, while Comrade Wang Ming’s line of seeking only unity and not struggle is erroneous. Comrade Wang Ming obliterates the distinctions within the Kuomintang, opposes the division of the anti-Japanese front into left, middle, and right, and only distinguishes between the anti-Japanese front and the non-anti-Japanese front. He believes that because China is an invaded country, there is no fascism. It has now been proven that the big landlords and big bourgeoisie of the Kuomintang have become even more reactionary, as seen in the publication of *China’s Destiny* and the dispatch of troops to attack the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, while at the same time they have become even weaker.

Before Comrade Wang Ming entered the Central Hospital in 1941, he stated at a meeting of the Secretariat of the Central Committee that the Central Committee’s

line was erroneous and that *On New Democracy* should be revised; over the past two years he has also been telling people that the Central Committee’s line is erroneous.
