To Lin Boqu and Dong Biwu[1]

(June 30, 1944)

The draft of the statement is as follows; please publish it in *Xinhua Daily* (whether it passes censorship or not): "A reporter from *Xinhua Daily* recently inquired with Comrade Lin Boqu, representative of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, regarding Mr. Liang Hancao's statement on the issue of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party on June 28, and received the following reply: 'The negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party are still under continued discussion. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has submitted a written opinion to the authorities, and subsequently received a proposal from the National Government. Although there remains considerable distance between the two, it has been forwarded to our Party Central Committee. When necessary, I may personally return to Yan'an to report, in order to obtain a concrete response through consultation. As for a concrete resolution, so long as it is conducive to unity and resistance against Japan and promotes democracy, the Communist Party of China is always willing to discuss it.'"
