Comment on a Telegram from Dong Biwu[1]

(Late September 1943)

Chiang is using Shao[2] to achieve his deceptive aims, still insisting that Dong be placed last, as a gesture of pulling in one and striking at another. This reflects that the Kuomintang dares not break openly, but its anti-communist policy continues.

[1] This is the main content of Mao Zedong's comment on a telegram from Dong Biwu concerning the internal struggles within the National Political Council and the placement of Dong's name at the end of the list of resident committee members.

[2] Shao refers to Shao Lizi, then Secretary-General of the National Political Council.
