Instructions on Publishing and Distribution Work[1]

(September 2, 1943)

Charge the Publishing Bureau and the Central Propaganda Department to convene meetings to study matters of publishing and distribution, examine the errors and shortcomings in their own work, launch extensive and powerful publishing and distribution work, and abolish bureaucratism and passive attitudes.

[1] This is the main content of Mao Zedong's instructions on an intelligence report regarding the repercussions caused among some senior party, government, and military personnel of the Kuomintang by the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda offensive (publishing articles such as "A Comment on 'China's Destiny'" and "Questioning the Kuomintang," as well as materials exposing Kuomintang generals who had defected to the enemy, etc.).
