In recent months, a very unusual and alarming event has occurred within China's anti-Japanese camp: many party, government, and military organs led by the Chinese Kuomintang have launched a movement to sabotage unity and the War of Resistance. This movement appears in the guise of opposing the Communist Party, but in reality, it is against the Chinese nation and the Chinese people. First is the military aspect. Among the national army led by the Kuomintang, the main forces stationed in the northwest are the 34th, 37th, and 38th Army Groups, under the command of Hu Zongnan, Deputy Commander of the Eighth War Zone. Two of these army groups are used to encircle the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, and only one is used to defend the section of the Yellow River bank from Yichuan to Tongguan against the Japanese invaders. This has been the case for more than four years, and as long as no military conflict occurred, everyone had become accustomed to it. Unexpectedly, such a change has recently occurred: of the three armies defending the river, the 1st, 16th, and 90th, two have been moved. The 1st Army has moved to the Binxian and Chunhua areas, and the 90th Army has moved to the Luochuan area, and they are actively preparing to attack the Border Region, leaving most of the river defenses against the Japanese invaders empty. This cannot but make people ask: what exactly is the relationship between these Kuomintang people and the Japanese? Many Kuomintang people unscrupulously proclaim every day that the Communist Party is "sabotaging the War of Resistance" and "sabotaging unity." Can it be that withdrawing the main forces from the river defenses is called strengthening the War of Resistance? Can it be that attacking the Border Region is called strengthening unity? We ask those Kuomintang people who are doing these things: you turn your backs to the Japanese, but the Japanese face you and advance towards your backs. What will you do then? If you abandon a large section of the river defenses, and the Japanese just watch quietly from the opposite bank without moving, only using their binoculars to watch with great excitement your receding figures, then what is the reason for this? Why do the Japanese like your backs so much, and why are you so at ease abandoning the river defenses and leaving them largely empty? In a society with private property, one always has to close the door when sleeping at night. Everyone knows this is not to be meddlesome, but to guard against thieves. Now you are leaving the main gate wide open; are you not afraid of thieves? If you leave the main gate open and the thieves do not come, what is the reason? According to you, only the Communist Party in China is "sabotaging the War of Resistance," while you are so-called "nation first." Then, turning your back to the enemy, what kind of "first" is that? According to you, it is also the Communist Party that is "sabotaging unity," while you are so-called "sincere unity" advocates. Then, can your advance towards the people of the Border Region with a large force of three army groups (minus one army), holding bayonets and equipped with heavy artillery, also be considered "sincere unity"? Or, according to another of your sayings, you do not love any unity, but rather love "unification" very much, and therefore want to pacify the Border Region, eliminate "feudal separatism," and kill everyone. Well then, why are you not afraid that the Japanese will "unify" the Chinese nation, and also "unify" you along with it? If the result is that you triumphantly "unify" the Border Region and pacify it, while the Japanese are stupefied by some "knockout drops" of yours, or immobilized by some "immobilizing spell" and cannot move, so that the nation and you are not "unified" by them, then, our dear Kuomintang gentlemen, could you please reveal to us what these "knockout drops" or "immobilizing spells" of yours are? If you have no "knockout drops" or "immobilizing spells" to deal with the Japanese, and have not made a tacit agreement with the Japanese, then let us formally tell you: you should not attack the Border Region, you must not attack the Border Region. "When the snipe and the clam grapple, the fisherman profits," and "the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind"—these two stories have a point. You should join us in unifying the places occupied by the Japanese and driving out the devils; that is the proper thing to do. Why are you in such a hurry to "unify" this palm-sized Border Region? The great rivers and mountains have fallen into enemy hands, yet you are not anxious, you are not in a hurry, but you are anxious to attack the Border Region and busy with overthrowing the Communist Party. How painful! How shameful! Next is the party aspect. In order to oppose the Communist Party, the Kuomintang has set up several hundred secret service brigades, into which all sorts of scoundrels have been recruited. For example, on July 6, 1943, the thirty-second year of the Republic of China, on the eve of the sixth anniversary of the War of Resistance, the Central News Agency of the Chinese Kuomintang issued a piece of news, saying that in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, some "cultural organizations" held a meeting and decided to send a telegram to Mao Zedong, telling him to take the opportunity of the dissolution of the Communist International to "dissolve" the Communist Party of China as well, and another point was to "abolish the Border Region's separatism." Readers will surely think this is "news," but it is actually old news. It turns out that this matter came from one of the several hundred secret service brigades, under the instruction of the secret service headquarters (that is, the "Bureau of Investigation and Statistics of the Military Commission of the National Government" and the "Bureau of Investigation and Statistics of the Central Executive Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang"), which ordered a Trotskyite traitor, Zhang Difei, who is famous for writing anti-communist articles in the Kuomintang-funded traitorous publication "War of Resistance and Culture" and is now the director of instruction at the Xi'an labor camp, to convene a ten-minute meeting of nine people on June 21, that is, fifteen days before the Central News Agency published the news, and "pass" a so-called telegram. Yan'an has not yet received this telegram to this day, but its content is already clear. It is said that since the Third International has been dissolved, the Chinese Communist Party should also be "dissolved," and also that "Marxism-Leninism has already gone bankrupt." This is also what the Kuomintang people say! We often feel that from the mouths of this kind of Kuomintang people (birds of a feather flock together), anything can come out. Sure enough, now they have let out another fine piece of work! There are now many political parties in China; the Kuomintang alone has two. One of them is called the Wang Jingwei Kuomintang, located in Nanjing and other places, also flying the blue-sky-and-white-sun flag, also having a Central Executive Committee, and also having a batch of secret service brigades. In addition, there is the Japanese fascist party all over the occupied areas. Our dear Kuomintang gentlemen, after the dissolution of the Third International, you are so busy that you are only concerned with plotting to "dissolve" the Communist Party, but you are unwilling to use some effort to dissolve some traitor parties and enemy parties! This is an aside, but what is the reason for this? When you instructed Zhang Difei to write the telegram, why did you not also say that the traitor parties and enemy parties should also be dissolved? Do you think there are too many Communists? There is only one Communist Party in all of China, but there are two Kuomintangs. Who is in excess? Kuomintang gentlemen, have you ever thought why, besides you, the Japanese and Wang Jingwei are also desperately trying to overthrow the Communist Party, and unanimously declare that only the Communist Party is too numerous and therefore must be overthrown? But as for the Kuomintang, they never feel it is too numerous, only that it is too few, and they support and nurture the Wang Jingwei Kuomintang everywhere. The history of the War of Resistance is full of records of two Kuomintangs and two Three People's Principles. But the Japanese and Wang Jingwei are very stingy; they are not even willing to support a pseudo-Communist Party, nor are they willing to advocate a pseudo-communism. Think about it, what is the reason for this? Kuomintang gentlemen, let us tell you without tiring of the trouble: the reason why the Japanese and Wang Jingwei particularly love the Kuomintang and the Three People's Principles is that there are things in this party and this doctrine that they can use. This party, after the First World War, only during the period from 1924 to 1927, when Mr. Sun Yat-sen reorganized it, added communists to it, and formed a national alliance of Kuomintang-Communist cooperation, was it hated by all imperialists and traitors, who did not dare to love it and tried their best to overthrow it. This doctrine, also only in the same period, through Mr. Sun's interpretation, as stated in the declaration of the First National Congress of the Kuomintang, the transformed Three People's Principles, was hated by all imperialists and traitors, who did not dare to love it and tried their best to overthrow it. Other than that, this party and this doctrine, under the condition of excluding the Communist Party and excluding the spirit of Sun Yat-sen, have made even the Japanese fascists and the traitor Wang Jingwei love them, as if they had found a treasure, nurturing and supporting them. In the past, the corner of Wang Jingwei's flag had a yellow symbol to distinguish it, but now this distinction is simply gone, and everything is made the same, so as not to be an eyesore. To what extent is their love? Not only in the occupied areas, but also in the great rear area, the Wang Jingwei Kuomintang is also numerous. Some are secret, and these are the enemy's fifth column. Some are public, and these are the people who live off the party, live off the secret service, but do not resist Japan at all and specialize in anti-communism. These people do not have the Wang Jingwei label on the surface, but in reality, they are Wang Jingwei's people. These people are also the enemy's fifth column, but they have a slightly more formal distinction than the former kind, in order to disguise themselves and deceive people's eyes. At this point, the problem is completely clear. When you instructed Zhang Difei to write the telegram, the reason you absolutely refused to add a sentence that the enemy and traitor parties also deserve to be dissolved, in addition to demanding the "dissolution" of the Communist Party, is that between you and them, there are many common points in ideology, policy, and organization, and the most basic common thought is anti-communism and anti-people. There is another question to ask the Kuomintang people: in the world and in China, is it only one kind of Marxism that has "gone bankrupt," while all others are fine? We have already talked about Wang Jingwei's Three People's Principles. What about the fascism of Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo Hideki? What about Zhang Difei's Trotskyism? What about the counter-revolutionary doctrines of the counter-revolutionary secret service organizations of the Zhang and Li cliques in China? Our dear Kuomintang gentlemen, when you instructed Zhang Difei to write the telegram, why did you not even have a postscript or a proviso for so many so-called "doctrines" that are like plagues, like bedbugs, like dog shit? Is it that in your view, all these counter-revolutionary things are perfect and flawless
