Telegram to Zhou Enlai[1]

(June 26, 1942)

Kuomintang-Communist relations will not improve for the time being, nor will they break down; it is a situation of stalemate. However, after Hitler falls and the international situation changes, this will inevitably affect China. There are still prospects for an improvement in Kuomintang-Communist relations and for a democratic republic. Let us carry on our work well and strive for that situation. The coming four months are critical both internationally and domestically. In Yan'an, studying the 20 documents has yielded tremendous results; 10,000 cadres are participating in this study.
