Add a passage to a situation report

(February 20, 1942)

There is indeed intelligence that Japan is preparing to attack the Soviet Union, and some say it will be launched by the end of February. Leading comrades in all areas should be mentally prepared, envisaging the various situations that may arise after the outbreak of a Japan-Soviet war and the tasks of our Party, and anticipating that when the Japan-Soviet war, long hoped for by the Kuomintang, breaks out, the other side is very likely to intensify pressure on us and force us to move northward; we should prepare to deal with such a situation. However, the Burma Road will soon be cut off, British and American supplies to China will have to pass through the Soviet Union, the Kuomintang will also face greater difficulties, and a rupture with us is out of the question.
