Telegram to Zhou Enlai[1]

(November 16, 1941)

Received telegram from the Communist International, advocating our attendance at the People’s Political Council. Please ask Wang Shijie to guarantee the release of Ye and the issuance of pay; then the leave requests of the two councillors in Chongqing can be withdrawn, and preparations made to attend.[2]

[1] This is the main content of a telegram to Zhou Enlai drafted by Mao Zedong for the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

[2] Zhou Enlai and Dong Biwu telegraphed Mao Zedong on November 16, stating that Zhang Zhizhong and Wang Shijie had already guaranteed the release of Ye Ting after the People’s Political Council, and therefore it was decided that Dong Biwu and Deng Yingchao would report to the People’s Political Council.
