Telegram to Xu Haidong[1]

We are deeply concerned to learn of your serious illness. At this tense moment in the situation, we are boundlessly anxious for your early recovery and good health. We send this telegram especially to convey our solicitude and hope that you will rest at ease.

[1] On January 18, 1941, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Wang Jiaxiang, and Ye Jianying sent a telegram to express their solicitude for the ailing Xu Haidong. This is the main content of the telegram. Xu Haidong was then serving as Deputy Commander of the Jiangbei Command of the New Fourth Army and concurrently Commander of its Fourth Detachment.
