The relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party may change;
hope you will seize the opportunity to handle it well[1]

(November 30, 1940)

Wang Jingwei has assumed the post of formal chairman, discarding Lin Sen[2]. The Japan-Wang treaty is about to be signed (some say it will be signed today), and at the same time, since the 24th, the Japanese army has launched a large-scale offensive in northern and western Hubei. Under these circumstances, the relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party may change; hope you will seize the opportunity to handle it well.

Tang Enbo is advancing northward to oppose the Communists, while the enemy is advancing westward to oppose Chiang—this can be considered lifting a rock only to drop it on one’s own foot.

After Japan recognizes Wang Jingwei (on the 27th, Wang sent a final exhortation telegram to Chiang), a crisis in Chongqing may arrive. Hope you will prepare propaganda in advance to suppress the anti-Communist arrogance of the Kuomintang.

[2] Lin Sen was then serving as chairman of the Nationalist government.
