To Wang Shiying[1]

(January 10, 1940)

(A) The rumor of a split between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party is not credible; it is a trial balloon released by traitors. (B) You should outwardly express that the Eighth Route Army supports Chief Yan in resisting Japan and building the nation just as before, but hopes that the old army will cease its attacks on the new army, and that both sides will reach a reconciliation, so as to benefit the resistance against Japan.
