Telegram to the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, the New Fourth Army Headquarters, and Others[1]

(November 24, 1939)

This news should be publicly announced by the headquarters and widely disseminated.

Chongqing and all other parties should publish articles in the newspapers, extolling the might of the Eighth Route Army’s guerrilla warfare and smashing the rumour that they “roam without striking.”

[1] This is the main content of a telegram from Mao Zedong, Wang Jiaxiang, and Teng Daiyuan to the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, the New Fourth Army Headquarters, the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, and the CCP offices in Chongqing, Xi’an, and Guilin, concerning the killing of Japanese Lieutenant General Abe Norihide by the Eighth Route Army at Huangtuling in Hebei Province.
