The masthead for the *Jizhong Herald* inscribed by Mao Zedong.

[1] The *Jizhong Herald* was the organ newspaper of the Jizhong District Party Committee. It was first published on September 10, 1938, in Tangyuzhuang, Renqiu County. At that time it was called the *Herald*, and in the autumn of 1939 it was renamed the *Jizhong Herald*. At the request of Zhou Xiaozhou, Mao Zedong inscribed the masthead for the *Jizhong Herald* and sent a letter to Zhou Xiaozhou: "Brother Xiaozhou: I have written as requested, though I do not know if it can be used. Mao Zedong." However, by this time the *Jizhong Herald* had already been forced to cease publication. It was not until June 15, 1945, when the *Jizhong Herald* resumed publication, that the masthead inscribed by Mao Zedong was adopted. This masthead was used until the founding of the *Hebei Daily*, the organ newspaper of the Jizhong District Party Committee.
