Speech at the Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China[1]

(July 3, 1939)

These documents point out opposing communism, preventing communism, and restricting communism. I believe that preventing communism and restricting communism are defensive slogans of the Kuomintang. We must stress opposition to the danger of civil war and point out that the danger of opposing communism is civil war. In all these documents, we must emphasize opposition to civil war. The language in the manifesto should be concise, and each plank of the program should be limited to one or two sentences.

[1] This is part of Mao Zedong's speech during the discussion at the meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on documents such as the Central Committee's declaration on the current situation to commemorate the second anniversary of the War of Resistance and the letter to the Kuomintang.
