Speech at the Meeting of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China[1]

(April 5, 1939)

(1) The issue of moral education. Henceforth, education must pay attention to the education of personality and the cultivation of personality. The education of personality means the tempering of ideology and consciousness. (2) The issue of new and old cadres. In the past, the main struggle among cadres was against arrogance and conceit; that was the situation at the time. Now that the number of new cadres has increased, attention must be paid to educating the new cadres. New and old cadres must integrate; the old cadres are the backbone, with experience and methods, and at the same time, we must welcome the new cadres and help the new cadres. (3) The work of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. In the past, the recruitment work for the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University was not well organized. Henceforth, it shall be carried out by the Cadre Education Department. The Anti-Japanese Military and Political University must establish a library and carry out donations of money and books.
