Speech at the Meeting of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China[1]

(Mid-February 1939)

At present, Japan’s scheme is to politically draw in the Kuomintang, establish a puppet government, and militarily cut off international communication lines. Chiang Kai-shek’s so-called “war of resistance to the end” merely aims to restore the state of affairs prior to the July 7th Incident, which in effect amounts to recognizing the cession of the Northeast. Currently, the international peace front has yet to take shape, and the democratic countries are seeking compromise with the fascists—this represents a major shift in the international situation.

In the past, the Party has consistently neglected work among women, primarily due to the lack of a number of cadres who regularly engage in women’s work. From now on, leading comrades must pay constant attention to women’s work.
