Telegram to Zhou Zikun, Lai Chuanzhu, and Yuan Guoping[1]
(January 27, 1939)
You should compile and telegraph to Chongqing and here a comprehensive report on the New Fourth Army’s operations over the past year or so, including its victories and arduous struggles, so that it can be published and used to firmly refute the claim that the Fourth Army has been ineffective in combat.

[1] This is the main content of a telegram sent by Mao Zedong and Wang Jiaxiang to Zhou Zikun, Lai Chuanzhu, and Yuan Guoping, refuting the Kuomintang’s slander that the New Fourth Army had performed poorly in battle. Lai Chuanzhu was then the Chief of the Staff Office of the New Fourth Army Headquarters.
