The Premier’s last will stated that he had devoted forty years to the revolutionary cause. From those four decades of experience, he drew two key lessons: first, to arouse the people; second, to form a united front with all nations that treated China as an equal. Dr. Sun Yat-sen was keenly aware of the paramount importance of arousing the masses; without the support of the people, it would be impossible to overthrow imperialism… Today, Marxism and the Three Principles of the People are closely linked. On the fundamental question of arousing the people and forging alliances with nations that treat China as an equal, in order to achieve China’s freedom and equality, the two ideologies are essentially in agreement. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party should therefore unite closely and engage in long-term cooperation.
