(1) According to intelligence from Xi’an, Li Xianzhou’s three divisions stationed at the Anhui–Henan border are preparing to advance eastward to reinforce Han. Reports indicate they may cross the Zhonghua River and move toward Dangshan. In addition to the 138th Division and a portion of Li Ben’s forces—totaling seven regiments—the Gui Army attacking eastern Anhui has now reinforced its ranks with the 172nd Division. Tang Enbo appears to be holding his main force in reserve. He has dispatched three regiments to form three reconnaissance detachments, which are scheduled to advance early next month toward Taihe, Fuyang, and Huangcheng in eastern Henan and western Anhui. Meanwhile, the main body is undergoing retraining in western Henan, poised for an eastward offensive. Taking all information into account, Chiang Kai-shek and the Guangxi clique are determined to launch an offensive against central China. It is also requested that Chen and Luo immediately dispatch the Fifth Brigade southward without further delay, so that it can arrive in Zhang Aiping’s area within half a month. Furthermore, Ye and Xiang are urged to promptly lead their forces across the river, completing the crossing within two weeks to reinforce eastern Anhui. O().
