Xie Zichang, given name Deyuan, a native of Anding, joined the Communist Party in Beiping in 1925. From then on, he took Communism as the path for the liberation of the Chinese people, established peasant movement training classes, organized peasant associations, and led the people to participate in the anti-imperialist and anti-warlord movement, for which the people called him Xie Qingtian. After the failure of the Great Revolution in 1927, Zichang launched an uprising in Qingjian and subsequently participated in the Weinan Uprising. Undiscouraged by defeat, he traveled throughout the Northwest and North China. After the September 18th Incident, he organized the Anti-Imperialist Allied Army between Shaanxi and Gansu, which was later reorganized into the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Shaanxi-Gansu Guerrilla Detachment, the predecessor of the 26th Army of the Red Army. In 1933, he went to Chahar to participate in the Anti-Japanese Allied Army. After its defeat, he returned to northern Shaanxi to organize the 27th Army, and in coordination with comrades such as Liu Zhidan, built the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region. In 1934, he was wounded in the Battle of Hekou, and in the spring of 1935, he died of his wounds. The Party, government, military, and people of all circles, appreciative of Zichang's merits and virtues, renamed Anding County as Zichang County to commemorate him. At the time when the government and the people erect a tomb for Zichang, this is written to narrate it. Inscribed by Mao Zedong. The ninth day of the seventh month of the twenty-eighth year of the Republic of China.
