Speech at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Women’s Brigade of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University[1]

(November 13, 1938)

Women compatriots suffer especially from the oppression of imperialism and feudal forces. We oppose all oppression of women, and we particularly detest the Japanese imperialists’ insults to women. We resist Japan not only to strive for national equality, but also to demand equality in the status of women. Only with the liberation of the Chinese nation can there be the liberation of women.
