At the present stage, China must accomplish the national democratic revolution—namely, the thorough defeat of the Japanese aggressors and the establishment of a new democratic republic. In the future, China must carry out the socialist revolution—i.e., realize a more advanced and more complete socialist republic. The successful completion of both revolutions requires adherence to the united-front policy; only by effectively uniting all revolutionary forces within the united front can the desired objectives be attained.
