[1] *Five-Day Current Affairs* was the organ newspaper of the Jinxi Southwest District Committee of the Communist Party of China during the War of Resistance Against Japan. It was published and distributed in May 1938 at Zhangjiazhuang near Yangquanqu in Xiaoyi County, Shanxi Province. It was a quarto mimeographed tabloid. Publication ceased on September 18, 1940, when the *Kangzhan Ribao* (War of Resistance Daily) was launched. Mao Zedong personally inscribed the masthead for *Five-Day Current Affairs*. This was the only newspaper in the anti-Japanese base areas nationwide for which Mao Zedong personally inscribed the masthead and affixed his signature.
