Letter to Guo Huaruo[1]

(May 12, 1938)

Comrade Huaruo:

After the final revision of the first section[2] is completed, it may be sent to press immediately. Attention must be paid to proofreading; you yourself must proofread it at least once.

After sections two, three, and four are copied, send them to me for another review.

Mao Zedong

The 12th

Pay attention to punctuation marks; do not allow a single one to be mistaken.

[1] Guo Huaruo, then serving as director of the Compilation and Translation Department of the Central Military Commission.

[2] Refers to the first section of Mao Zedong's article "Problems of Strategy in Guerrilla War Against Japan." This article was published in the 40th issue of *Liberation* in Yan'an in May 1938, and was published as a separate pamphlet by the Yan'an Liberation Press in June of the same year. When it was included in the *Selected Works of Mao Zedong* in 1952, the sections were changed to chapters.
