Letter to Mao Anying and Mao Anqing[1]

(March 4, 1938)

Dear Anying and Anqing:

I often think of you. I know that your circumstances are fairly good and that you have made progress, and I have also received your photographs, which gave me great joy. Now, taking advantage of a convenient opportunity, I am entrusting this letter to be sent to you, and I also hope that you will write letters to me. I am longing for your letters! My circumstances are also fine. When there is another opportunity later, I will write to you again. I wish you health, happiness, and progress!

[1] In early 1937, Anying and Anqing went to Moscow to study. In early 1938, someone brought back photographs of Anying and Anqing from Moscow, and Mao Zedong was overjoyed. Soon after, when someone was going to the Soviet Union, Mao Zedong wrote this letter and entrusted the person to take it to Moscow.
