Inscription for Journalists Accompanying the Kuomintang Central Inspection Delegation (January 1938)

Members of the Kuomintang and members of the Communist Party, unite as brothers, struggle to resist Japan and save the nation, and achieve the goals of national independence, democratic freedom, and the people’s livelihood and happiness—this is the sole and unique task of today.

[1] Following the "Xi’an Incident" of December 12, 1936, the Communist Party and the Kuomintang achieved their second cooperation and established the Anti-Japanese National United Front. In January 1938, the Kuomintang Central Inspection Delegation arrived in Yan’an, and Mao Zedong wrote this inscription for the accompanying journalists.
