The youth of North China are the vanguard of the national liberation struggle. The vast majority of them should unite and fight to the end for the national democratic revolution. Many among them feel frustrated by the current situation; this frustration can be resolved only through collective action—the struggle to achieve democracy and resist Japan. The youth of North China ought to take a deeper interest in securing democratic freedoms, for the pursuit of patriotic, democratic freedom is one of the central issues of today’s political life. If some people talk only about resisting Japan without engaging in concrete democratic struggle, such resistance will remain ineffective. Reformism of the bourgeois sort is currently exerting influence over the youth of North China, seeking to draw them away from the front lines to the rear, from revolutionary initiative to complacency and quietism, and from a leading role to tail-endism, with the aim of extinguishing their leadership in the national democratic revolution. The youth of North China must therefore combat these reformists, subjecting reformist tendencies and influences to rigorous scrutiny and completely overcoming them.
