Directive on the Work of the Rear Area Garrison Corps

(October 1937)

To build this relatively scattered force, drawn from various quarters, into a regular corps with strong combat effectiveness, one that cannot be smashed or worn down, the key lies in acting in accordance with the spirit of the Gutian Conference Resolution, strengthening political and ideological work, and strengthening unity. Work must also be done among the cadres to make them clearly understand the significance and role of staying in the base area, lead the troops well, and fulfil the glorious tasks entrusted by the Central Committee.
