Telegram to Zhou Xiaozhou[1]

(October 5, 1937)

Your political orientation in work is not mistaken; you have shown initiative and diligence in your work, and generally speaking, there have been achievements. However, some shortcomings have also manifested in your work, namely the existence, to a certain degree, of a rash, careless, and arrogant style. The direction for change is to adopt a cautious, thorough, and modest attitude in observing problems, handling work, and dealing with people and matters. Especially in united front work, such an attitude must be strictly adopted.

[1] This is the main content of Mao Zedong's telegram to Zhou Xiaozhou. At the time, Zhou Xiaozhou was ordered to proceed to Xinjiang to carry out tasks in his capacity as a liaison officer of the Revolutionary Military Commission of the Central Committee.
