•(A) Chiang Kai-shek’s current large-scale offensive against the Soviet areas not only forbids the Red Army from resisting Japan; on the contrary, it aims to annihilate the Red Army and the people of the Soviet regions. He has ordered Hu Zongnan’s various armies to launch a fierce assault on Yanchi, Dingbian, and Huan County, with the intent of advancing into the Shaanxi–Northern Shanxi Soviet Area. (B) After the First, Second, and Fourth Front Armies of our Red Army have joined forces, morale has greatly improved. We firmly uphold the line of the Central Committee and the Military Commission, determined to destroy the attacking enemy, expand the united front, and carry out the cause of resisting Japan and saving the nation. On November 21, we won our first victory at Shancheng Fort, south of Dingbian and Yanchi, wiping out one brigade of Hu Zongnan’s forces. (C) This victory marks the beginning of the complete defeat of Chiang Kai-shek’s entire offensive. All Red Army soldiers must unite even more closely, endure hardship and fatigue, obey orders, and fight bravely. The people of all Soviet areas should assist the Red Army by transporting food, evacuating wounded soldiers, and carrying away spoils of war. When the White Army arrives, we shall meet them with the tactic of “fortifying the walls and emptying the fields.” Let us fight to defend the anti-Japanese base areas, to expand these base areas, and to annihilate all invading enemies. Long live the Red Army! Long live the Soviets! Long live the national revolutionary war for resisting Japan and saving the nation!
