Explain the relationship and changes between the Communist Party’s past tactics and slogans and its current new slogans and strategies. Clarify that after the failure of the Great Revolution, our struggle for the Soviets was correct, because at that time the bourgeoisie and its party—the Kuomintang—had betrayed the revolution. The only path open to the workers and peasants was to fight against the feudal landlords and the bourgeois class; there was no other way. Following the September 18 Incident, and especially after the North China Incident, the situation underwent a major transformation. Japan’s aggression and its methods of destroying China not only threatened the working people and toiling masses but also endangered the bourgeoisie. Everyone was determined not to become slaves of a conquered nation. Therefore, the Communist Party advocated the establishment of a national united front for resistance against Japan. With the peaceful resolution of the Xi’an Incident, the first step toward building this national united front—securing domestic peace—was essentially completed. We have now entered the initial stage: consolidating domestic peace, striving for democracy, and expanding democratic rights. Before uniting the entire nation on the anti-Japanese front, following the First National Congress of Youth for National Salvation in Northwest China, we hope that everyone will publicize and explain the Communist Party’s strategic slogans to young people across the country, so that all young people may understand......
