A Letter to Han Fuju[1]

(December 27, 1936)

With the Xi’an Incident, the anti-Japanese front in the Northwest has taken shape. You, Sir, advocated a peaceful resolution, and that objective has now been achieved. However, it is inevitable that Mr. Chiang will once again be surrounded by a clique of petty men, and it is to be expected that the launching of anti-Japanese resistance will be delayed. As for how to reorganize the national defense government in the future, how to organize a nationwide anti-Japanese allied army, and how to determine the grand policy for national salvation, we are willing to engage in earnest cooperation with you, Sir, and with the forces of the Shandong Army.
