To Peng Dehuai[1]

(September 24, 1936)

Received Zhu De's telegram. Zhang Guotao has again wavered on the policy of advancing north. We are currently devising ways to remedy this. In order to prevent Hu Zongnan's forces from seizing the initiative, please dispatch additional effective troops southward to be placed under the command of the First Army Corps, reinforce Jieshipu, and divide forces to conduct guerrilla operations along the Longde-Jingning highway. This is of utmost importance.
