Speech at the Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China[1]

Our eastward advance and the Long March are both for the purpose of resisting Japan. We must link up the various movements; all forces and all movements must be integrated into political power. Guerrilla units are developing especially in northeastern Shanxi, as well as in Hebei, Henan, and Shanxi; we must make arrangements in several crucial localities.

[1] On December 29, 1935, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau to discuss the work of the Northern Bureau. This is part of Mao Zedong's speech at the meeting.
