To Mr. Song Mingxuan of Beiping, Mr. Zhang Zizhong of Tianjin, Mr. Liu Rumming of Zhangjiakou, and Mr. Feng Zhijun of Baoding: The Japanese invasion has aroused indignant protest throughout the country. In the Battle of Lugou Bridge, the 29th Army fought heroically, inspiring the entire nation to stand as its backing. We earnestly urge you to galvanize your troops to fight for the defense of Peiping and Tianjin, to fight for the defense of North China, and to permit no inch of our homeland to be seized by the Japanese aggressors. Let us defend our land even unto the shedding of our last drop of blood! The officers and men of the Red Army are filled with righteous indignation and are ready to be deployed at any moment, to join forces with your valiant army and engage the Japanese in a decisive battle to the death. In addition to dispatching telegrams to Chairman Chiang Kai-shek and to all friendly units nationwide volunteering to take up arms against the enemy, we hereby respectfully convey this message, and humbly request your enlightened guidance.
