Lin, Nie, Li, Deng:

I. Today we completely routed the enemy’s 35th Division Cavalry Regiment; the captured equipment is currently being inventoried.

II. Mao Bingwen’s main force remains along the line from Erlipu to Hongdecheng and in areas to its east, about three to four days’ march from our position. However, his advance detachment—consisting of one infantry regiment and one cavalry regiment—is closer to us. A portion of the Fengtian Army is stationed at Zhen Tiecheng.

Our troops are firmly prepared to annihilate Mao Bingwen’s main force and his advance elements, with the aim of regrouping and reorganizing. Tomorrow, the 22nd:

A. The First Column will move to the vicinity of Erdao River and Sandao River for overnight bivouac, sending out reconnaissance units up the upper reaches of both rivers.

B. The Second Column will rest in place at Yangchengzi and Wuqi Town, dispatching reconnaissance parties up the upper reaches of Toutao River.

C. The Third Column will rest in place along Ningbao River.

D. The Brigade’s direct units will remain in Wuqi Town.

IV. We plan to take another day of rest on the 22nd.

V. We should expedite efforts to secure three days’ worth of rations.

VI. Intensify educational briefings to explain the brigade’s orders.
