To Lin Biao, Nie Rongzhen, and Others[1]

Lin, Nie, Peng, Li:

1. Dong Yingbin reported on the 7th that, pending the arrival of the 106th Division, the army’s divisions will advance eastward in sequence from Taibai Township. A portion of the 106th Division has now reached the vicinity of Taibai Township. It is estimated that within one or two days, the enemy’s three divisions may advance toward Heishui Temple and Zhiluo Township. 2. To annihilate this enemy, our army’s disposition for tomorrow, the 9th, is as follows: (a) The main force of the 1st Army Corps shall remain in place, but units in the area east of Bailing Gully shall relocate to the northwestern area of Qiulinzi. (b) The 25th Army shall move tomorrow to the area of Bailing Gully, Angou, and Dashenghao, and the day after tomorrow, via Qiulinzi, to the line of Taohuabian and Zhangcunyi. (c) The 2nd Column shall move tomorrow to the line of Youfangyuan and Laorencang. (d) We shall remain in place tomorrow. Lin is to survey the terrain, roads, and settlements along the line of Heishui Temple and Taohuabian, as well as the areas east and south thereof, and submit a mapped report within two days.
