[1] On October 19, 1935, the CPC Central Committee, leading the Shaanxi–Gansu Detachment of the Red Army, reached Wuqi Town in the Shaanxi–Gansu Soviet Region, thus successfully concluding the Long March. On the 22nd, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held an enlarged meeting in Wuqi Town and decided that the strategic task going forward would be to establish the Northwest Soviet Base Area and lead the nationwide revolutionary movement. In early November, near Ganquan, they joined forces with the Fifteenth Corps of the Red Army, which consisted of the Twenty-Fifth Army and the Shaanxi–Gansu Red Army. On the 3rd, the Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic decided to set up the Northwest Revolutionary Military Commission, with Mao Zedong as chairman and Zhou Enlai and Peng Dehuai as vice chairmen; at the same time, the designation of the First Front Army of the Red Army was restored, with Peng Dehuai serving as commander and Mao Zedong as political commissar. The original First and Second Columns of the Shaanxi–Gansu Detachment were combined into the First Corps, and the Fifteenth Corps was incorporated into the structure of the First Front Army. This is a telegram sent by Mao Zedong and Peng Dehuai to Xu Haidong, commander of the Fifteenth Corps of the First Front Army of the Red Army.

[2] Dong Yingbin was, at that time, the commander of the Seventh Column of the Second Route under the Nationalist Army’s Northwestern Pacification Headquarters (the 57th Army).
