(November 2, 1935)

To Lin, Nie, Peng, Li, Ye, with copy to Yang:

(A) The First and Second Columns, together with the units directly under the Corps Command, will rest in place tomorrow (the 3rd) for one day. On the 4th, they will resume their southward advance, each covering sixty to seventy li before making camp. (B) They should make straw sandals, wash clothes and bathe, and replenish their food supplies. (C) As the local people along the route are enthusiastically welcoming them, they should prepare responses to any slogans shouted by the crowds and also think carefully about what to say when they meet the Fifteenth Corps. (D) Every effort must be made to keep the troops clean and well-ordered. (E) Regarding the rear echelon: if there is no money available to purchase firewood and vegetables, two hundred yuan worth of Northern Shaanxi Soviet currency should be distributed, at six fen per person per day.
