Telegram to Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Wang Jiaxiang[1]

(September 2, 1932)

The enemy’s main force appears to be along the line of Huangpi, Wudu, and Liudu, advancing southward in two columns astride the river, with the possibility of reaching the line of Dongpi and Zhufang. Our front army should assemble tomorrow in the area of Xinfengshi, Daiyuan, and Qiacun to prepare for resolutely striking this enemy.

[1] On September 2, 1932, Mao Zedong, leading the advance units of the Red First Front Army southward, sent a telegram to Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Wang Jiaxiang, who were leading the follow-up forces, reporting on the enemy situation and offering suggestions for the army’s movements. This is the main content of the telegram.
